48 hours in Croatia

The first destination of the trip is the island of Vis, which is bordered by the Adriatic Sea. It is a small paradise with about 4,000 inhabitants and a breathtaking scenery.

The waves embrace the stone houses of the island and give the atmosphere a touch of romance and nostalgia. Its narrow streets, houses with colorful shutters and small harbors give you the feeling that you live in a fairytale! You can visit the Catholic temples, but they are crowded as well as the archaeological museum. In small shops, you can buy your souvenirs while it’s worth to get up early and walk by the sea. The sound of the waves and the fresh air will refresh you.

But what will most impress you is how happy and cheerful are the inhabitants of the island. They smile at you, welcome you and they are always willing to help! The similarity of this island with the Greek hospitality is really remarkable.

Our stay

If you are thinking about staying in Villa Serena this is the ideal place especially if you are a big group of people. The comforts and the view that it offers will compensate you with the above! Four floors, bedrooms with their own bathrooms and a yard that you do not want to separate.
Of course, if you want something smaller, you can choose the room of a hotel as all of them offer great views and amenities.

Food recommendations

If you ever find yourself in Vis, remember to enjoy your meal at Villa Kaliopa! It is in a remarkable full of green area, with excellent food choices. Especially if you are into fish you will taste unique traditional dishes! But for the classic traveler, if pizza is your favorite food, we recommend the Dionis pizzeria!

Approved tip: Don’t forget to taste the traditional fish pie!

Let’s go to Split

Split was the second destination of the trip and the second largest city in Croatia after Zagreb. It runs along the Dalmatian coast and has two animals for symbols. The Dalmatian dog and the donkey. Every one for his own virtues!

Coast Split

In Split, you will find outdoor markets and bazaars, where you can buy everything from fish(yes again) to souvenirs. It is worth walking along the coastline and enjoying the sun! Take your stroll to the well-preserved medieval city and the majestic Roman palace of Emperor Diocletian. Entrance to the palace, a UNESCO cultural heritage site, is from the Broutin Gate on Riva. The old town of Split is full of splendid corners, tiny slopes, and galleries. A real labyrinth!

Remember to climb the famous stairs to enjoy the whole city from above. The ascent hides small treasures. Traditional courtyards with colorful flowers, carved doors, and stone houses. Walking will make you feel tired but the view will compensate you!

Food Recommendations

After you climb the stairs you will find the Vidilica coffee shop. It is worth taking a stop to enjoy your favorite coffee, rest and look at the city view. As far as your food choices we recommend the Konoba restaurant!

Approved tip: For your trip to and from the airport, prefer the shuttle bus as the ticket is only 30 Kuna (4 euros).
