Vienna is a destination we admittedly wanted to visit for a long time. The opportunity was given when we were in Bratislava at the end of November (see here which places you will love). Bratislava to Vienna is only one hour and five minutes away . Until you realize that the train has begun you have already changed country. Find below the shops and delicacies that you must try.
Food in Vienna is nothing without visiting Centimeter
The Centimeter was established in 1996 and since then it serves traditional Viennese food with its signature dish the huge Schnitzel. A place that the locals choose to watch football! Beer costs about $ 4.50 a glass, and for a Schnitzel dish at € 9.90. The portions are enormous and extremely tasteful. The Centimeter can also be called as a TAVERN, GASTROPUB or BEER LOCAL. There are four shops scattered in Vienna. We chose the first and oldest of these ‘Centimeter at the Town Hall’.
Café Central is a must in Vienna
For us the enjoyment of a hot chocolate or a dessert is really a ritual. So if you find yourself in Vienna, you MUST visit the most historic and much-talked café in the city. Usually it has a long queue, but we were lucky as we went in almost immediately. With your entrance you can feel the magical aura of this shop. It has something classy. The piano music, the well-dressed waiters, the decoration, probably all that together. Café Central was founded in 1876 and was a place chosen by art people, writers, poets, psychoanalysts and many others. We ordered hot chocolate and “Kaiserschmarrn”, a cake with melted prunes in the form of jam, which costs € 9.50.
Vollpension an alternative choice
A shop with great decoration, many frames on the walls and colorful combinations. This is where young and older people work. Their goal is to bring these two generations close. The art of pastry belongs purely to grandmothers! Here you will taste a delicious breakfast with sweet and savory delicacies as well as a light snack for your lunch or dinner.
1516 Brewing Company the best beer pub in town
A beer house with history and great food! It has its own beer production and it is a guarantee. On the ground floor it looks like a classic beer garden with heavy wooden tables and a large bar. The upper floor is designed to accommodate you for food! You should not miss the “BBQ Pulled Pork” sandwich (13,20 €) and the “BBQ Baby Back Ribs” (19,90 €). Big portions for sure and tastes amazing.
Note
For your good food we also recommend Figlmuller for the huge Schnitzel and the Ribs of Vienna for ribs with the measure. It would be a good idea to make a reservation one day ago as the queue is enormous.
